Following on from the success of Cefyn’s last two blanket designs, 2010 sees a new Carthen blanket design and one which seems to be eagerly anticipated as once again Cefyn continues to explore the beauty of Welsh fabrics with its simplicity and honesty.

The inspiration for Cefyn’s new design comes from the traditional carthen (Welsh blanket with a fringe) and the truly iconic Welsh nursing shawl used by mothers to carry their babies around.

The nursing shawl is a true Welsh icon

Welsh nursing shawls where often passed down from mother to daughter and in some cases have gone through many generations and are now highly prized family heirlooms.

This new design will come in four colours which Cefyn has not yet finalised and will be around 90” x 70” in size.

Pre sales have already started

The initial limited run will begin soon and already Cefyn has had pr-orders from patrons who have not even seen the design.

The time before a new design starts to get woven is called the pre-weave period and during this pre-weave period it is possible for you to get your own Cefyn Burgess Carthen Welsh blanket in a colour personal to you.

What does this mean? Well, it means you can have a personal consultation with Cefyn and select colours from his range and then have your very own Cefyn Burgess Carthen blanket  personally woven for you before the main design run.

This unique opportunity is only available during the pre-weave period and you must contact Cefyn personally to discuss colours with him before the 25th April 2010 before 12 noon.
